Jack Answers Your Questions!

We compiled 10 questions for Jack Green out of the many that were asked, and there were quite a few that were great questions, and some, well, just not even something we'd ever ask Jack, ever.

Our first question for Jack was from Maxine, and she asks, 'Jack, would you play music again as a career if you could do things all over again?'

Jack's reply is: Maxine, Yes, if I could sustain myself from just making music, I would. I managed to for about 30 years but it got too hard. The older you get, the less opportunities come your way.

Question 2 is from Jade & Lester, 'What is your ideal guitar and amplifier set up, both for the stage and the studio. Thank you for your answer in advance.'

Jack replied, 'Jade and Lester, I love Fenders, my favourite is my Strat. I like twins as opposed to 4x12s, I had a great Peavey Renown 110 but I sold it and they've stopped making them. If money was no object, I'd get a Mesa Boogie.

Carole's question was, 'Where did you meet your wife? And how did you propose to her? If it's too personal, that's okay, and we love your music.'

Jack shared this: 'I met my wife in London. She was a friend of my ex song writing partner Gordon Edwards. We'd been living together for 7 years and we were walking past Richmond registry office one day and I asked her if she would like to get married, she agreed, so we went in, signed some things and we were married 3 weeks later. Not very romantic but its been a long and happy marriage'.

Question 4 reads, 'What are your pre-performance 'Good Luck' rituals, and have you ever had a bad performance if you did not go thru them?'

(Asked by 'Anonymous' who seems to have a few counterparts who visit the site quite frequently...)

Jack's hilarious answer had some of us rolling around on the floor laughing!

'Anonymous, Are they good luck rituals, or just obsessive compulsive disorder? Most people do these things and I'm no different.I tend to put things in a certain way so that I can see them when I come off stage also I always put my shoes together, so they're tight against each other. Since I always do this, there's no way of telling what would happen if I didn't!'

What was your worst ever gig? Quiried by MacT.

Jack said, 'MacT, Everybody has bad gigs occasionally, the two worst that I remember were: A university in Germany with the Pretty Things. We had almost finished the set and were going down well, when somebody threw a can on stage and hit Skip Allan our drummer full in the face. He retaliated by throwing the can back in to the crowd and then another can was thrown and then another. Suddenly it was raining cans and various other objects. We were laughing but had to run off stage in fear of our lives.The other was the Troubadour in LA during a Jack Green solo tour. I heard people talking at the back of me while I was on stage. I asked what all the commotion was and they told me that John Lennon had just been shot and killed. I had to announce it to the audience. It was awful. All the Record execs were telling me I had to carry on with the show, the audience were crying, I was crying. I launched in to a Lennon song and that just made it worse, I could hardly get the words out.The next morning we flew to New York for a gig at the Bottom Line, we were staying on Central Park South very near the Dakota building. so I was there when all the crowds marched through the streets and converged at the Dakota. Another thing from that terrible day, it had just been set up for me to support John Lennon on his forthcoming tour. Yoko had looked at my astrological charts and agreed for me to be the support act.'

Question 6 comes from Dave B, who asked Jack, 'What is your opinion of today's music, and what are the recent bands that you listen to, if there are any? Do you hate rap? Listen to it? What don't you consider to be 'music'...'

Jack's answer follows... 'Dave B., In music you start out with broad tastes but in my experience, your tastes tend to narrow, the older you get.I think the record companies cut their own throats when for years they only signed safe bets, and then, only to a one year deal Consequently, every piece of music that came out, you'd heard before and probably done better. Now I think they've seen the error of their ways and will sign up more unusual musicians and cutting edge acts. Most of the best music ever written, was written by song writers between the ages of 18 to 24, they may not be the best musicians yet but you don't need to be a great musician to write a great song.

There are not many recent bands or singers that I'd happily listen to, but there are always some, I like Duffy, James Morrison, Ray la Montagne.Mostly though, I'll stick to listening to bands that I already know and like. The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Vaughan is my favourite guitarist. Anything with roots (Blues, Rock and Roll, Country)

When you're younger, you get caught up in the marketing of music, and the image of the band. Whereas when I listen to music now, I just hear the music, I don't see the image behind it and without the image sometimes the music is pretty poor.I like to listen to good players or singers.I don't hate rap, Eminem is fantastic. His lyrics are brilliant, but it's not the type of music that hits me in the heart.I'm not a great jazz lover. I'm of the opinion that when playing with a band, everyone plays their part, then it should sound like a well oiled machine, all playing together. Jazz to me often sounds like like a load of musicians trying to get in front of the only mike.(Look at me! No look at me!) It really annoys me...'

Question Number 7 came from Sarah, who wanted to know this. 'Did you ever hang out with members of Led Zeppelin since they had you on their Swan Song record label? Please tell us some cool stories if there are any, thanks!'

Jack shared this, 'Sarah, Yes I spent a lot of time with the members of Led Zeppelin. We used to have to go and watch their shows and they'd come to ours. We also shared an office, and Jimmy and Robert would come out to Ibiza when I lived there. There are too many stories. Not all of them printable. You're just going to have to wait till my book comes out.'

Question Number 8 reads, 'Which of your songs do you want to be remembered most by Jack?'

Anonymous Jack said, 'Anon. My immediate answer would be the one I've just written!It's very hard for me to say, I really have no idea...'

Waldon asked question number 9, which was 'What is your favorite album that you did?'

Jack's response was this: 'Humanesque, although I like bits of all the albums.'

Our final question for Jack came from Harry J, and it was 'What is the funniest thing that happened to you while recording music in the studio?'

Jack replied, 'Harry J, It's hard to pinpoint one thing and say that it's funnier than all the rest but I'm going to have to ask you Harry to wait just a little while longer until my book comes out. Just last week I had some interest from a publisher so hopefully it won't be too long'.

The Amazing Angel Called Jack Green

We've received some more great Jack Green pics from The Man Himself and we're always so happy to hear from this incredible human being who gives to all people from his heart and soul.

Jack Green's music has easily stood the test of time and has continued to inspire countless people toward creating music of their own.

Jack enjoys the artwork Robin creates for him exclusively, and with this latest batch of private Jack photos, Robin created a fitting picture of Jack which we've been calling 'Jack the Magical Musical Angel', which was created from yet another great early shot of Jack with his Harptone acoustic guitar.

Look at that radiant and so very happy face and you'll easily see why Jack is our favorite rocker!

We're currently listening to his excellent demos from 1979, with 'Murder', Walking In My Sleep' and 'Factory Girl' being played in heavy rotation.

Robin's Autumn Leaves Jack Green Portrait

Jack's music has always inspired me in all ways, both artistically and spiritually, and I totally enjoy working with his awesome photographs while letting his music magically guide my thoughts in artistic creativity.

This very fine image of Jack in concert has been steadily created over a good period of time, with Jack supplying the original photograph and letting me do what I do, which is be completely free in my artistic creations for him. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me personally, The Jack Green Appreciation Society and all of his many fans. His music and thoughts enrich our lives and inspires us to do our best, which he does each and every day.

With the Summer of 2008 almost over and a beautiful Autumn painting her gorgeous colors in Edmonton's River Valley, I have created for Jack and Jackie Green this very moving portrait of our favorite rocker.

Everyone who has seen it has been awestruck and very inspired, which is what Jack's music is all about.

Awesome Jack Green Pictures !!!

Here's a great photo montage of Jack with Marc Bolan and T-Rex top left, his solo albums, relaxing at home and a cropped pic from a publicity session with The Pretty Things. We've also included the cool promotional poster from Jack's excellent best-selling 'Humanesque' album, along with his four solo albums. Just look at the center photo of Jack and his recent photo on the top right and you'll see that he stands, smiles and looks the same as he did in the central publicity shot.

Jack is one healthy human being and his music and incredible artistic creativity are what keeps him young!

And to all of those friends and fans that keep wanting Jack's fourth solo album, 'Latest Game', do keep your eyes open and seek out the reputable record dealers in your neighborhood and on eBay. We all know that there are still copies of this hidden treasure out there, so keep your eyes open!

Living Legend & Rock God Jack Green!!!

We're always so happy to see pictures of Jack and are especialy proud of the fact that Jack enjoys sharing his music and photos with us. Never let it be said that the man himself isn't more than dedicated to his many fans here in Canada and worldwide.

We're currently listening to the Original Tracks from 'Humanesque' that Jack sent us in an awesome parcel with a personal letter (!) and are currently battling it out with the wonderful Canada Post folks who keep opening the parcels of lithographs we have set to Jack. Which is really not cool at all.

As they have handled Robin's signed and numbered lithographs for Jack with less than the care they claim to handle parcels with, we've decided to get personal regarding filing the international insurance claim for damages.
