This great video is another fan created compliation using
Jack's 'Right Now' song as the soundtrack! This video is another YouTube addition that has footage of many great musicians of our time, with Jack leading off the roster!

'Right Now' comes from Jack's very rare 1986 solo album 'Latest Game', which is virtually impossible to find and remains The Holy Grail of Jack's 4 solo albums. I have found 3 sealed copies of this album in all my days of continual searches and those three days were indeed extremely happy for me, as I got to share these precious sealed albums as gifts for three of Jack's very grateful longtime fans.

If you are ever lucky enough to get to hear this incredible album, you will soon realize just what a brilliant and inspiring musician and teracher Jack Green is!

Thank you for all the inquiries, questions and comments! As always, we enjoy hearing from everyone and with the holidays on their merry way, do appreciate that everyone is a little busy. We Remember Mike Pleau, Founder of Megatunes

The Jack Green Appreciation Society respectfully pays tribute to Mike Pleau and his loving family.

Mike passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the very young age of 54 years.

Mike was truly one of the finest human beings ever to have graced this planet and he remains one of the earliest supporters of Jack Green and Jack's music.

Along with Gary 'The Hair' McGowan, Mike Pleau was the major link in the Alberta chain of Jack's success and we gratefully and respectfully pay homage to him for his unyielding support of Jack Green.

Mike did more to spread the word and get Jack's records to his fans than almost all people combined, not an easy feat!

Mike was passionate about his family, his friends and music.

His Megatunes legacy and his memory will always live on.

Originally from London, Ontario Mike will always be remembered by all who met him as an amazingly warm and friendly man, with a heart of gold and an incredible memory for faces, names, dates and events.

Mike worked for such major labels as RCA, BMG and Warner Music before blazing his own trail with Megatunes, and he proved that he could easily compete and succeed against the major record chains.

Not only did Mike compete with every chain in the country, he kicked their collective asses and created the essential blueprint for independent record stores in Canada.

Mike Pleau set a great many sales records that still stand against the major chains!

Mike success can be formulating to his incredible customer service and his amazing talent for picking out which artists would achieve Certified Gold Record status long before many people had even heard of the artist.

Mike said time and again that he knew Jack Green was a major league rocker from the moment he first heard his solo music.

We agree!

Always an independant thinker in his own right, Mike did things his own way and we all admire him for being the loving family man he will always be remembered as.

This one's for you our friend, you will be missed.

We compiled 10 questions for Jack Green out of the many that were asked, and there were quite a few that were great questions, and some, well, just not even something we'd ever ask Jack, ever.

Fellow Jack Green Fans, please do read below to see what Our Favorite Rocker had to say..!

Our first question for Jack was from Maxine, and she asks, 'Jack, would you play music again as a career if you could do things all over again?'

Jack's reply is: Maxine, Yes, if I could sustain myself from just making music, I would. I managed to for about 30 years but it got too hard. The older you get, the less opportunities come your way.

Question 2 is from Jade & Lester, 'What is your ideal guitar and amplifier set up, both for the stage and the studio. Thank you for your answer in advance.'

Jack replied, 'Jade and Lester, I love Fenders, my favourite is my Strat. I like twins as opposed to 4x12s, I had a great Peavey Renown 110 but I sold it and they've stopped making them. If money was no object, I'd get a Mesa Boogie.

Carole's question was, 'Where did you meet your wife? And how did you propose to her? If it's too personal, that's okay, and we love your music.'

Jack shared this: 'I met my wife in London. She was a friend of my ex song writing partner Gordon Edwards. We'd been living together for 7 years and we were walking past Richmond registry office one day and I asked her if she would like to get married, she agreed, so we went in, signed some things and we were married 3 weeks later. Not very romantic but its been a long and happy marriage'.

Question 4 reads, 'What are your pre-performance 'Good Luck' rituals, and have you ever had a bad performance if you did not go thru them?'

(Asked by 'Anonymous' who seems to have a few counterparts who visit the site quite frequently...)

Jack's hilarious answer had some of us rolling around on the floor laughing!

'Anonymous, Are they good luck rituals, or just obsessive compulsive disorder? Most people do these things and I'm no different.I tend to put things in a certain way so that I can see them when I come off stage also I always put my shoes together, so they're tight against each other. Since I always do this, there's no way of telling what would happen if I didn't!'

What was your worst ever gig? Quiried by MacT.

Jack said, 'MacT, Everybody has bad gigs occasionally, the two worst that I remember were: A university in Germany with the Pretty Things. We had almost finished the set and were going down well, when somebody threw a can on stage and hit Skip Allan our drummer full in the face. He retaliated by throwing the can back in to the crowd and then another can was thrown and then another. Suddenly it was raining cans and various other objects. We were laughing but had to run off stage in fear of our lives.The other was the Troubadour in LA during a Jack Green solo tour. I heard people talking at the back of me while I was on stage. I asked what all the commotion was and they told me that John Lennon had just been shot and killed. I had to announce it to the audience. It was awful. All the Record execs were telling me I had to carry on with the show, the audience were crying, I was crying. I launched in to a Lennon song and that just made it worse, I could hardly get the words out.The next morning we flew to New York for a gig at the Bottom Line, we were staying on Central Park South very near the Dakota building. so I was there when all the crowds marched through the streets and converged at the Dakota. Another thing from that terrible day, it had just been set up for me to support John Lennon on his forthcoming tour. Yoko had looked at my astrological charts and agreed for me to be the support act.'

Question 6 comes from Dave B, who asked Jack, 'What is your opinion of today's music, and what are the recent bands that you listen to, if there are any? Do you hate rap? Listen to it? What don't you consider to be 'music'...'

Jack's answer follows... 'Dave B., In music you start out with broad tastes but in my experience, your tastes tend to narrow, the older you get.I think the record companies cut their own throats when for years they only signed safe bets, and then, only to a one year deal Consequently, every piece of music that came out, you'd heard before and probably done better. Now I think they've seen the error of their ways and will sign up more unusual musicians and cutting edge acts. Most of the best music ever written, was written by song writers between the ages of 18 to 24, they may not be the best musicians yet but you don't need to be a great musician to write a great song.

There are not many recent bands or singers that I'd happily listen to, but there are always some, I like Duffy, James Morrison, Ray la Montagne.Mostly though, I'll stick to listening to bands that I already know and like. The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Vaughan is my favourite guitarist. Anything with roots (Blues, Rock and Roll, Country)

When you're younger, you get caught up in the marketing of music, and the image of the band. Whereas when I listen to music now, I just hear the music, I don't see the image behind it and without the image sometimes the music is pretty poor.I like to listen to good players or singers.I don't hate rap, Eminem is fantastic. His lyrics are brilliant, but it's not the type of music that hits me in the heart.I'm not a great jazz lover. I'm of the opinion that when playing with a band, everyone plays their part, then it should sound like a well oiled machine, all playing together. Jazz to me often sounds like like a load of musicians trying to get in front of the only mike.(Look at me! No look at me!) It really annoys me...'

Question Number 7 came from Sarah, who wanted to know this. 'Did you ever hang out with members of Led Zeppelin since they had you on their Swan Song record label? Please tell us some cool stories if there are any, thanks!'

Jack shared this, 'Sarah, Yes I spent a lot of time with the members of Led Zeppelin. We used to have to go and watch their shows and they'd come to ours. We also shared an office, and Jimmy and Robert would come out to Ibiza when I lived there. There are too many stories. Not all of them printable. You're just going to have to wait till my book comes out.'

Question Number 8 reads, 'Which of your songs do you want to be remembered most by Jack?'

Anonymous Jack said, 'Anon. My immediate answer would be the one I've just written!It's very hard for me to say, I really have no idea...'

Waldon asked question number 9, which was 'What is your favorite album that you did?'

Jack's response was this: 'Humanesque, although I like bits of all the albums.'

Our final question for Jack came from Harry J, and it was 'What is the funniest thing that happened to you while recording music in the studio?'

Jack replied, 'Harry J, It's hard to pinpoint one thing and say that it's funnier than all the rest but I'm going to have to ask you Harry to wait just a little while longer until my book comes out. Just last week I had some interest from a publisher so hopefully it won't be too long'.

The Amazing Angel Called Jack Green

We've received some more great Jack Green pics from The Man Himself and we're always so happy to hear from this incredible human being who gives to all people from his heart and soul.

Jack Green's music has easily stood the test of time and has continued to inspire countless people toward creating music of their own.

Jack enjoys the artwork Robin creates for him exclusively, and with this latest batch of private Jack photos, Robin created a fitting picture of Jack which we've been calling 'Jack the Magical Musical Angel', which was created from yet another great early shot of Jack with his Harptone acoustic guitar.

Look at that radiant and so very happy face and you'll easily see why Jack is our favorite rocker!

We're currently listening to his excellent demos from 1979, with 'Murder', Walking In My Sleep' and 'Factory Girl' being played in heavy rotation.

Robin's Autumn Leaves Jack Green Portrait

Jack's music has always inspired me in all ways, both artistically and spiritually, and I totally enjoy working with his awesome photographs while letting his music magically guide my thoughts in artistic creativity.

This very fine image of Jack in concert has been steadily created over a good period of time, with Jack supplying the original photograph and letting me do what I do, which is be completely free in my artistic creations for him. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me personally, The Jack Green Appreciation Society and all of his many fans. His music and thoughts enrich our lives and inspires us to do our best, which he does each and every day.

With the Summer of 2008 almost over and a beautiful Autumn painting her gorgeous colors in Edmonton's River Valley, I have created for Jack and Jackie Green this very moving portrait of our favorite rocker.

Everyone who has seen it has been awestruck and very inspired, which is what Jack's music is all about.

Living Legend & Rock God Jack Green!!!

Which is really not cool at all.

As they have handled Robin's signed and numbered lithographs for Jack with less than the care they claim to handle parcels with, we've decided to get personal regarding filing the international insurance claim for damages.

Classic Jack & T-Rex!

During the recent Rock Trivia Challenge in Edmonton, Jack was the answer to a trivia question in which Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' was the Number One album sold in Alberta, Canada.

The question was, "Which album was Number 2?"

Robin correctly answered "That's easy! Jack Green's Humanesque album!!!"

The crowd erupted in applause when they heard this answer and within minutes, Jack's awesome hit 'Murder' was played and the dance floor was absolutely packed.

We are getting Jack's hit songs ready for karaoke as there are many fans who would like to sing them at all the various karaoke bars locally and in Calgary. Rock Trivia has now began to get very popular in Edmonton, and Jack Green Appreciation Society Members are behind the wave of popularity since winning the first two rounds the past month.

PACKAGE FROM JACK ARRIVES!!!

It's here!!! It's here!!!!! IT'S HERE!!! The awesome folks at Canada Post called us and told us, "Hello, you have a parcel from Mr. Jack Green, would you like us to deliver it to you now?" We were floored and quickly said "YES!!!" Inside this great parcel were a tape of some of Jack's incredible and unreleased music (!) and a letter from the man himself. We are truly blessed and so excited to hear his wonderful and great music that we are literally singing how happy we are out loud!

Jack Green Appreciation Society Members are planning an evening in the near future that will be featuring Jack's music and photographs. Can't wait!!!

Life is so good with Jack's music in it!!!

Awesome Picture of Jack and Harry!

Hello Everyone, here's a recent photo of the great Jack Green with Harry Feld, the late Marc Bolan's elder brother. Jack sent us this awesome pic a few days ago. 

  Jack's sending us some new unreleased music which should arrive here in Canada shortly, and we are so very excited to be able to hear more of his unreleased music! Keep the questions coming, we send Jack batches of your questions every so often. 

I will answer the question which comes up quite a bit for us, which is where to find a copy of Jack's rarest album, 'Latest Game', which was his final release in the '80's. First of all, Ebay has been a decent source for Jack's vinyl in recent years. We contact some of the more reputable vinyl record sellers on Ebay and they have been very helpful in locating Jack's music for everyone.  

Try to stick with vinyl records, cassettes can get lost in the mail and sometimes the sound quality isn't the greatest. We've been lucky whenever we purchased Jack Green on cassette, and have received several copies that were still sealed! The Greenmobile has almost every track Jack's ever recorded and we enjoy blasting Jack's music wherever we go. People constantly stop us and ask us where to find Jack's music, and with The Jack Green Appreciation Society membership roster growing every week, we can connect members and fans with Jack's albums whenever we come across them.

Keep in touch, Jack visits the site often and sends us awesome photos and other pretty things all the time!

Rachel F asks, "Do you perform acoustic sets around Ryde?"
Jack replied, "No I don't perform at all any more. About 10 years ago I had a Rock and Roll Band and we were quite popular on the south coast of England. We played Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues and were called "The Fabulous Jack Green Band" named after "The Fabulous Thunderbirds" who are one of my favourite bands. We used to play a lot of their material, sometimes I'd throw in one of my own songs but I'd tell the audience it was by someone else.

Max K asks, "How often do you go to Spain these days? Do you still visit Spain? How long did you live in Spain? How well do you speak Spanish?"
Jack said, "Max, I don't go to Spain as often as I'd like. One of these days we'll move back there. A little piece of my heart will always be in Spain. We lived there for 12 years and we both miss the lifestyle, the weather, the people, everything. Entiendo muchas palabras, pero me gramatico no es muy bueno.
(The English translation is 'I understand many words, but my grammar is not too good.)

Matthew asks, "What is the best thing about being who you are that you like?"
Jack's reply is, "The best thing about being me that I like is, not being somebody else who I don't get on with"

Nathan's question is "What was in like being in Marc Bolan's band? What was it that made you decide to join his band?"
Jack's very interestng answer is this, "I was asked to join his band. Since they were the biggest thing in Britain at the time, and I was starving, it seemed like a good idea."

Mirelle asked "What kinds of guitars are you favorites and what do you recommend for a beginner to play, guitar-wise?" and "Where were you and how old were you when you first realized that you would be a singer/songwriter and musician?"
Jack shared, "I use a Takamine acoustic, as it's one of the few acoustic guitars that sounds just as good plugged in, as when it's not. I also use a Fender Strat and Fender Tele. For a beginner, I would suggest buying a guitar that plays well (It doesn't matter what it looks like) It's also a good idea to buy a decent make as it will keep its value or even go up in value. There's nothing worse for a beginner than trying to play a bad guitar as it's an uphill struggle to know whether it's you or the guitar that's not sounding quite right."

Emma T asked "How and where did you meet your wife Jackie?" and "Do you two play music together?" and "Who does the cooking at home or you both like to cook together?" and "How long have you been married to each other?" and "Do you have any pets, if so what are they and what are their names?"

Jack wrote in reply, " I was introduced to Jackie by Gordon Edwards my ex song writing partner and Pretty Things and Kinks keyboard player. He’d met her while she was at art school in Southampton but it was when she moved to Goldsmiths College in London that we started going out together. We don’t play music together, Jackie’s more of an artist than a musician. She has this knack of knowing when I’m even thinking about a piece of music and will leave me alone while I work it out. She has always treated me like an artist, for which I’ll always be eternally grateful. We both like to cook. We’ve been together for 34 years and we’re still the best of friends. We’ve had loads of pets over the years, we moved two cats (Soldier and Miff) and a dog (Duke) over to Spain when we moved there, but animals never last very long and it always breaks my heart when they die, so we decided not to have any more. (Secretly though, I’d love another dog.)

Andrew from Messina, New York, U.S.A. asks and "Do you produce any new or local bands where you live?" and "What is your favorite meal breakfast, lunch or dinner, fave beer and bottle of wine, favorite tea, favorite dessert, do you like barbeques and do you have guests over for dinner a lot?

Jack said, "Ok Andrew, food, obviously something close to your heart.
I like interesting food. I’m not a plain food fan. I like Indian food, chicken korma is good, I can’t take the really hot curries any more. I’d have that with aubergine pickle, and yogurt and cucumber ratha and nan bread. I like Greek food, mousaka is one of my favourites, with a greek salad and feta cheese. Spanish paella is a fantastic meal too, made with fresh seafood.
I like German beer, so much more taste than other varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon red is a good wine. We found one that comes from Venice and it is just delicious. We tend to buy Fairtrade tea at the moment, it’s good stuff. We used to have barbeques a lot in Spain but in England it’s rare as the weather is so awful. We do have people over for dinner but not that often."

Andrew also asked, , "What are your best experiences during your career?"
Jack says, "My best experiences??? That’s a hard one to answer; there have been quite a few. Including, getting signed up to a London music publisher when I was 16, getting in to the musical "Hair" when I was 18 and performing on the West End stage in London. Getting a record deal when I was 20, getting asked to join T-Rex, getting a solo album deal, getting a gold record. (Editor's Note, and it's a Canadian Gold Record too...) Playing 1000’s of gigs, travelling the world and of course meeting so many interesting people. I’ve been very lucky.

The Questions For Jack Just Keep Coming!

Thanks for the continuous input everyone! Our favorite Rocker will be answering your many questions as soon as I can get a few moments to write and format a letter to him. We do appreciate the many requests for Jack's Music, but we can't send any of his unreleased music to anyone because that's not how it works. Jack's got a few ideas for the future release of his copyright protected music and some of the other fine work he's created. So that should clear up one of the many questions we get on a steady basis around here. And thanks for visiting our very happy Jack Green Appreciation Society Website, we enjoy seeing you folks coming and going on a steady basis. When Jack gets a break from his always hectic schedule, he'll be relaxing and answering your questions. The continual input into his autobiography takes plenty of time and is sure to be a great read. With so much mystery surrounding Jack and his awesome music, the best way to interpret his lyrics is to enjoy them and find your own meanings. We've still gotten different insights into his songs after playing them since first hearing them. Rachel asks "Are you coming to Canada again? Do you still tour? Are you married or in a relationship? Do you like younger women? What kinds of foods do you enjoy eating? What is your idea of a perfect date?"

Jack said, "Dear Rachel, I hope I will be able to come to Canada sometime in the future."

"I stopped touring about 10 years ago after many, many years on the road but you never know."

"Yes, I'm married. Young women are nice but as I say, I'm happily married."

"I like interesting food, something with a bit of thought put into it. I'm not a plain food fan."

"A perfect date would be spending time alone with someone who is intellegent, well read, artistic and beautiful, like my wife."

"When will your new music be released?" & "Are you other albums going to be released on MP3 or CD? Thank you Jack."

Jack Green replied, "I hope to release some tracks soon. When they do come out I expect they'll be on CD."

Remembering Gary McGowan

Gary Alexander McGowan passed away at the tender age of 50 after a long and hard fought battle with brain cancer. Fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him as 'The Hair' for his long and naturally curly hair, Gary was more than just a radio personality or concert promoter. He was our friend, teacher and mentor, and lent a guiding hand to those of us who were a part of Edmonton's early days of FM Radio and the local music scenes. Without him, many of the great concerts that were staged in Edmonton might not have happened. Gary had a way of making everyone feel right at home and he had an amazing memory for faces, names. dates and concert tours.

Gary also went well out of his way to obtain plenty of Jack Green's records, tapes, CDs and promotional items for all of Jack's fans in Canada. When Jack came to Edmonton as a solo artist for his Canadian Tour, Gary bought dozens of tickets to Jack's show out of his own pocket and then gave them away to Jack's fans who couldn't afford to buy them. Many people who got to meet Jack that day and see his awesome Standing Room Only shows were there solely because of Gary McGowan's generosity. Gary also hosted the parties after Jack's shows and everyone who attended will remember what a great time we all had.

Gary freely gave from his big heart and will never be forgotten for all that he did for this great city.

Gary McGowan's radio career spanned several decades and he promoted countless shows and financed many tours by up and coming bands and solo artists. He also brought many popular performers to the City of Edmonton, often out of his own pocket.

As Gary was a long time fan of Jack Green's early music with T-Rex and The Pretty Things and Jack's great solo career, we respectfully give him and his many achievements the credit that he truly deserves.

Gary, we heartily thank you for all you have done for all of us, our lives won't be the same without you.

Farewell our friend, you will be missed!
