I agree with the comment that Jack has the ability to strip away all that's unessential. Restraint, spacing, timing and execution can be very risky and brilliance can go unnoticed by the novice who prefers 3 cord head banging from start to finish. Only Jack & the band Free (in my humble opinion) have reached the highest level of musical excellence with this approach, the latter having split up over the inner musical tensions of this innovative execution (the more conventional Stadium rock 'Bad Company' being the result). Subsequent releases have proven this critics' assumptions wrong regarding Jack's ability to go 'head to head' with more heavyweight rock bands.
